White Monkey King

The Quick Sip
A handmade, small-farm tea whose tender buds perform a "ballet of leaves" while infusing in your tea pot. The liquor is light gold with a full aroma and flavour reminiscent of sweet nuts and asparagus, usually found in much more expensive teas. The season's tea always sells quickly out.

Tea Tales

This gently sweet green tea is from the Tai Mu Mountains of China's Fujian province. Why this tea is so named is lost in the mists of time, though it is said there was a Taoist temple high in the mountains encircled by tall and wild tea trees. Monks trained the silver haired monkeys native to the area to help pluck the leaves from the out of reach branches, and so the resulting tea took on the evocative name White Monkey King. Realistically, the name probably refers to the fine silvery white down on these exquisite leaves which are plucked early in the spring ‘before the rains'. Only the buds and one leaf are plucked after which they are shaped by hand.
