The Quick Sip
Grown in the mountains of Dongting, the well known bushes that produce this famous tea are infused with the fragrance of peach, plum and apricot trees that surround the mist-covered tea gardens. The pale green tea has a delicate peach fragrance and captivating aroma. Our Pi Lo Chun is produced in the spring only, and is entirely handmade using unopened silvery down covered ‘bud and one leaf'. Sixty to seventy thousand are needed to produce just one pound!
Tea Tales
Pi Lo Chun translates as ‘Green Snail Spring', which may be an improvement over ‘Scary Fragrance', the name by which the tea was known before a Qing Dynasty emperor changed it. Chinese tea experts have regarded Pi Lo Chun very highly. The tea encyclopaedia ‘Cha Shuo', ranked it first among Chinese green teas. The most esteemed Pi Luo Chun is still to be found in the Dongting mountains, from which our tea has been harvested.
