Darjeeling - Margaret's Hope

The Quick Sip
From the Himalayan foothills, Darjeeling teas are highly prized, and known as the ‘Champagne of Teas'. This second flush (summer) tea is a classic example, with the signature fruity, ‘muscatel' notes typical of the esteemed Margaret's Hope garden. Our selection makes an ideal introduction to the ‘Cult of Darjeeling'. Be warned, for once you're in, it's hard to leave. Best enjoyed without milk.

Tea Tales
Darjeeling, located in the Himalayan foothills produces the Queen of Indian Teas, with a flavour that cannot be replicated anywhere in the world. It starts with the remarkable hybrid of China and Assam variety tea plants. The rest is taken care of by a mixture of elevation, soil, climate, intermittent cloud and sunshine that give these teas their flamboyant aroma and fruity, complex taste reminiscent of muscatel grapes. Except for certain rare Chinese and Taiwanese teas, Darjeeling teas are among the world's costliest, with a high level of interest shown by the affluent German and Japanese market. As a result of this popularity, an active market provides tea masquerading as Darjeeling, mostly from nearby Nepal. Aficionados see through the disguise, but new tea drinkers may not.

Customer Reviews
‘I brewed this tea too long the first time and it didn’t taste right. The second time brewed it for exactly 3 minutes using 1 teaspoon and it was perfect. I love this Darjeeling tea now. It’s one of my favourites.

‘Been a Darjeeling tea drinker all my life and this is by far the best and freshest tasting Darjeeling I have had’. Grace B
